Yesterday’s Dip Trips Over Today’s Bid 😂

Here’s What’s Happening 👇

NEWS
Oops. 🥹

Since June 2022, I’ve sent out roughly 1,100 of these newsletters to your inbox. 😱

I’ve never missed a day. Still haven’t. Ever. Once, I sent out this newsletter in a partial draft format, which is kind of like publishing a recipe with notes like i got sick when i ate this or chicken medium rare cook time or wtf is even tartar and why is it creamy when it’s not.

However, it’s possible you didn’t get yesterday’s Cryptotwits newsletter. Oh, it went out last night - but only to about 1/5th of you.

When you’re running a newsletter, you clean up the mailing list every so often. And there’s a lot of you who open this every day. So when the backend needs to organize and filter our email list, it takes a while.

And it’s probably not a good idea to do that just before the newsletter is about to send.

My bad. 🥹

Crypto Went From Degen Bet To Retirement Plan Suspiciously Fast 🤔

$NEXO ( ▼ 0.2% ) dropped a 70-page ‘Future of Digital Wealth 2026’ report, built around a survey of 1,000 affluent investors across the U.S., U.K. and Argentina, plus a separate group of crypto-engaged investors. It’s worth reading. There’s a lot of useful stuff in there once you get past the inevitable section explaining why Nexo products are the answer to modern civilization. 🧠

I thought the age demographic stuff was pretty nuts.

Gen Z Owns Everything But They Have Weak Hands

Nexo found 94.2% of affluent investors aged 18-25 own some crypto. Nearly half have more than 25% of their portfolio in it, and 30.8% expect crypto to be their biggest personal wealth driver over the next decade.

But only 2% of those 18-25-year-old holders say they’re holding for 10+ years. Nearly half sit in the 1-3 year bucket. Massive conviction. Tiny patience.

The 35-44 Crowd Is Big Into Crypto

Crypto integration peaks among investors aged 35-44, where Nexo says capital, retirement planning and investment horizon finally line up. Their average Crypto Integration Index score hits 5.04, the highest of any age group.

  • 28% of 35-44-year-old holders treat crypto as a core part of their retirement strategy.

  • In the U.S., roughly 9 in 10 crypto holders assign it some retirement role, whether core, supplementary or opportunistic.

  • The basic split is pretty clean: younger investors have the enthusiasm, while people in their peak earning years finally have enough money to build crypto intolong-term financial plan.

I mean, it was less than 10 years ago that we had the turdpocalypse of crypto going from Bitconeeeeeect and ICO fraud, followed by memecoin frenzy, Celsius, and FTX to where we are now - adults in their prime earning years making crypto a centerpiece of their retirement plans. That happened really fast. ⏩

Circle Would Like You to Forget Bridges Ever Existed 🌉

$CRCL ( ▲ 1.4% )’s Arc mainnet went live this month. It’s an open Layer 1 built specifically for stablecoin payments, capital markets and moving money on-chain. Circle launched it with more than 100 apps and 100 institutional and crypto builders already involved. 👯

But there is one thing about Arc that anyone who has been in the crpyto space for more than one year can appreciate: Arc wants crosschain transfers to suck less.

Bridges Have Been A Disaster

Quick reminder about what bridges are - blockchains don’t naturally talk to each other, so bridges move value between them. Unfortunately, they’ve also been defenseless fat money cows with little to no security, protected by complicated smart contracts, validators and security assumptions. And hackers notice things like that.

In 2022 alone, 64% of the $3.1 billion stolen from DeFi protocols came from cross-chain bridges. By August of that year, Chainalysis had already counted 13 bridge hacks totaling roughly $2 billion, representing 69% of all crypto funds stolen at that point in the year.

Not exactly crypto’s finest user experience. And even when nobody steals your money, bridges can still require:

  • Picking the right bridge and route

  • Keeping balances scattered across chains

  • Understanding which wrapped asset you’re receiving

  • Holding another token just to pay destination gas

  • Hoping you didn’t miss something important in the 14 warnings you clicked through

Arc Wants That Crap In The Background

Interop on Arc pulls Circle’s crosschain tools into one system. CCTP handles native transfers of assets including USDC, EURC and cirBTC. Gateway coordinates balances across supported chains. Forwarding Service can even handle the destination transaction without users holding gas there.

For USDC, supported Arc routes can complete Fast Transfers in under 10 seconds.

Thankfully, Circle isn’t trying to build a prettier bridge. It’s trying to make users stop thinking about bridges entirely. Your USDC is there. The app figures out how to get it where it needs to go. 👍

RWA TOKENIZATION
Ondo Put BlackRock’s Portfolio Brain On-chain

$ONDO ( ▲ 25.89% ) keeps adding pieces of Wall Street to its menu. The latest is Ondo Intelligent Portfolios, 3 tokenized portfolio products built around strategies developed by $BLK ( ▲ 1.18% ) specifically for Ondo. 3⃣

The first 3 cover high income, diversified growth and high growth.

Each Intelligent Portfolio token provides economic exposure to its underlying basket, while the holdings, weights and rebalances remain visible on-chain. Tokens can also move peer-to-peer between wallets, exchanges and DeFi protocols. Ondo says the structure can eventually support automatic smart-contract rebalancing and portfolios mixing multiple asset classes.

Also, this isn’t one of those situations where you’ve an entity tossing their sticker onto the hood of a BlackRock car. BlackRock developed the underlying strategies for Ondo.

That gives Ondo something every RWA platform wants and few have in equal measure: products, institutional names and distribution.

Ondo keeps finding another piece of traditional finance to drag on-chain. And, annoyingly for everyone chasing them, they keep getting there first more often than not. 🥇
