Dogecoin Opens A Doggy Daycare. Three Dogs, Several Owners, One Very Busy Kennel 🐶
Ah Dogecoin. It’s been too long since I’ve written about you. It’s sometimes hard to believe that $DOGE ( ▲ 0.05% ) has spent 13 years demonstrating that a dog can become a multibillion-dollar financial asset.
Now it's attempting something considerably more difficult: getting several dogs to live under the same roof without eating the furniture.
Today, Dogecoin Labs announced it's bringing MyDoge, DogeOS, and Such App together under one organization. MyDoge is the family dog with more than 500,000 reported users. DogeOS is the ambitious puppy that wants to build everything from DeFi to gaming. Such App is the one that allegedly has a job, handling merchant payments and invoices.
The Dogecoin Foundation and publicly traded $HODO ( ▼ 5.67% ) are contributing intellectual property, assets, and development teams to the new kennel, with MyDoge and DogeOS founder Jordan Jefferson assuming responsibility for the entire pack.
The Foundation still has its own house, while House of Doge receives equity in the new operation. Nobody's entirely moving out. They're just consolidating the food bowls.
The idea is to connect developers, wallet users, and merchants into something resembling a functioning economy. DogeOS only launched its public testnet September 30, so there's still considerable house-training ahead. 🏘

Banks Discover That Customers Prefer 3.5% To 0.38% 🤑
The OCC finalized its GENIUS Act rules today, and the banking industry received some upsetting news: customers might still get paid for keeping dollars somewhere other than a bank. 🤣
The law bars stablecoin issuers from paying interest directly, but the OCC dropped a proposed presumption that would have treated certain third-party rewards as prohibited yield. Platforms like $COIN ( ▲ 3.65% ) can continue offering eligible USDC rewards, subject to regulatory scrutiny.
Here's why the banks are sweating. Coinbase offers up to 3.5% on USDC, while the average U.S. savings account pays 0.38%. I mean I really don’t have to write anything more than that. But bankers warn that higher stablecoin rewards could drain deposits, constrain lending, kill the climate, end the moons orbit around the Earth thereby destroying the entire planet, make the sun go dark, encourage militant space turkey’s to invade, etc, etc, etc.
Still, the optics are magnificent. After years of preaching free markets, banks are lobbying regulators to protect an arrangement where they pay customers next to nothing to hold their money.
Competition is wonderful, right up until someone competes. 😶

NEAR's New Treasury Comes With Privacy And Some Awkward Timing 🤔
$NEAR ( ▲ 6.52% ) launched NEAR Business yesterday. It give companies private payroll, vendor payments, treasury management, and swaps across 35ish networks. Why? Well, perhaps your employees' salaries shouldn't be available to anyone with a block explorer and an afternoon to kill. 🔭
NEAR's to this is multisig approvals and cross-chain operations in one dashboard while keeping balances, recipients, and transaction details confidential. Governance remains publicly verifiable, and records stay available to authorized accountants and auditors. Imagine that. Financial privacy without making the CFO dress like a fugitive.
Also, the timing is kind of funny. NEAR is opening a new bank vault 19 days after somebody robbed the building. On October 1, an exploit involving its NEAR Intents infrastructure cost roughly $3.8 million. The funds were returned and the flaw patched, but that's an awkward footnote for a product asking businesses to trust its plumbing.
The platform remains invite-only. 🕵

Solana's Alpenglow Is Live 🏃
$SOL ( ▲ 0.68% ) cut transaction finality from 12.8 seconds to roughly 150 milliseconds today. 😱
The upgrade, called Alpenglow, replaces TowerBFT, Solana's original consensus system, which has been running since 2020. Validators managed the transition without taking the network offline, which is especially encouraging given Solana's historically complicated relationship with remaining operational.
For those who don’t know or forgot, finality is the point when a transaction becomes irreversible, something exchanges, merchants, and financial institutions tend to appreciate when handling actual money. Reducing that wait to 150 milliseconds is a legitimate engineering achievement.
Anza, the engineering team behind the upgrade, says further improvements are coming, including faster data distribution and eventually post-quantum security.
Now, faster settlement doesn't automatically resolve questions about decentralization, reliability, or whether Solana's economic model can survive without speculative enthusiasm doing most of the heavy lifting.
Still, there's something almost admirable about Solana's approach. Like Tether, it's making a surprisingly effective case for one business’s most used maxims: fake it till you make it. 👍
