Avalanche Just Invented A Better Way To Measure Its Own Economy ā›·ļø

Fellow nerds, this is one you’ll like. šŸ‘ļø

Avalanche has extended its Gross Chain Product framework with a new metric called Gross Chain Income, or GCI. The basic idea borrows from national accounting.

Gross Chain Product is Avalanche’s version of GDP. It measures value produced inside the on-chain economy. Gross Chain Income goes one step further and adds income flowing to Avalanche users from outside that economy, including yield earned by holders of tokenized funds and yield-bearing stablecoins.

Then comes GCI-general, which also counts reserve income earned by issuers backing assets held on Avalanche. When you put it all together, in June 2026:

  • Avalanche produced about $3.1 million in nominal GCP.

  • Holder yield added another $2.7 million, pushing GCI to $5.8 million.

  • Issuer reserve income added another $6.9 million, bringing GCI-general to $12.7 million.

Tiny complication: $AVAX ( ā–² 0.9% )  captures very little of it.

C-Chain transaction fees are burned, but that amounted to roughly 3% of monthly GCP in June. Holder yield is barely captured. Issuer reserve income is currently captured at exactly zero. So that sucks.

So Avalanche is working on some solutions/ideas such as measuring the money. Figure out how to capture some of it. Then figure out where that captured value should go. Possible ideas include voluntary protocol revenue sharing and even a protocol-owned stablecoin that could redirect reserve yield back toward the network.

There are a boat load of crypto tickers out there that provide value outside of hodling it that stakers and hodlers never, ever see - but at least Avalanches’s team is looking out for the token hodlers. šŸ‘ļø

STOCKTWITS Find The Laggard Before Everyone Else Does šŸ‘€

The Stocktwits MCP puts live sentiment, message volume, trending symbols, prices, and real trader conversation directly inside ChatGPT, Claude, Codex, Cursor, and other compatible AI agents. šŸ¤–

Most ā€˜sympathy trade’ lists are a few companies stapled together by a fashionable noun. AI. Drones. Quantum. Or whatever this mouth breather of a market is yelling into a paper bag that day.

The Stocktwits MCP can make your agent prove the link.

Some prompt ideas:

  • Which trending symbols have rising sentiment but flat message volume? I want the crowd early, not already standing on my lawn.

  • Where do the posts contradict the data? Flag names with bullish chatter but weak sentiment, falling price, or fading volume.

  • Find stocks where three or more independent users are making the are making the same evidence-based case. Ignore copy-paste posts, squeeze fantasies, and ā€œmarket makers are scaredā€ material.

Example I used in Claude: Start with the 10 highest-ranking trending tickers on Stocktwits. Find leader-laggard pairs only where a real transmission mechanism exists. Require three independent co-mentions, a low Message Volume score, 55 to 75 Sentiment Score, less than 50% of the leader’s daily move, and little squeeze nonsense.

And it did not just throw NVDA, AI, and a prayer at the wall.

It found:

  • $JD → $TCEHY: JD fell 8.6%. Tencent fell 1.1%. Shared China-consumption pressure and a still-active Weixin traffic partnership.

  • $CSCO → $ANET: Cisco fell 9.2% on AI-networking margin pressure. Arista moved less than 1%.

  • $SMCI → $DELL: Same enterprise AI-server spending pool. Dell captured just 38% of Supermicro’s move.

No ten-tab scavenger hunt. No ā€œsame sectorā€ fraud. Ask your agent where the move could actually travel, then make it show its work.

Connect the Stocktwits MCP and put live market intelligence inside your AI. šŸ‘‡ļø

COTI Is Killing The Yield Farm To Build A Business šŸ¤”

$COTI ( ā–¼ 15.9% ) is putting a chunk of its old incentive machine in the garage. šŸ›–

COTI Earn is being paused. The Treasury is being paused for the foreseeable future on August 18 (not much of a heads up…). Treasury deposits, boosts, and top-ups are already shut off, and users can withdraw without fees. But KuCoin’s staking at 18% APR survives as the lone reward exception.

This is a pretty big change in what COTI wants the token to do.

The old model leaned heavily on rewards. Hold tokens. Stake tokens. Earn more tokens. Crypto has spent years discovering that handing people more of the thingy they already own sounds great, but economics 101 is a biatch: more of something dilutes value, especially if there’s no demand for it.

COTI is openly acknowledging that problem. The team says Earn was paused partly after concerns around token distribution and dilution (a little late on that guys). Nodes v2 was nearing completion, but launching it would mean more monthly rewards in a weak-liquidity environment.

Their pivoting to an idea that entities will pay for privacy. Its Privacy-on-Demand system is being pushed onto outside L1s and L2s, with private transaction fees settling in COTI. Half of Privacy-on-Demand and privacy bridge fees are slated to be burned. More usage means more token demand, more fees, and less supply.

At least on paper.

That turns COTI from a token economy built around rewarding holders into something closer to a software business. And it also turns the question of ā€˜how much yield?’ into ā€˜how much are people going to pay for this thing? will anyone?’ šŸ¤”

ON-CHAIN ANALYSIS
BNY Funds Are Coming To Stellar 😱

Marketnode plans to offer on-chain access to select BNY Investments funds through $XLM ( ā–² 0.6% ) . This is increasingly a distribution problem. 🤷

Putting a fund on a blockchain is one thing. Giving investors access to it, managing it over time, upgrading the contracts behind it, handling changes to data structures, and keeping the network moving as usage grows is another.

Convenient timing, then, that Stellar is rolling out Protocol 28.

The upgrade includes CAP-85, which allows large fleets of contracts using the same code to be upgraded atomically. Change one shared reference and the entire group updates at once instead of wandering through software versions like an office full of old Gateway laptops.

CAP-86 tackles another less glamorous problem: contract data migration. Developers can change data structures over time. And CAP-83 improves consensus performance when transaction data is slow to propagate.

None of this makes for particularly thrilling marketing copy. Or newsletter copy now that I start to write about it… Anyway, it does make more sense when BNY investment products are sitting on the other side of it.

That is where the Stellar story is getting more interesting because, unless I’m reading this wrong, this is less about tokenizing another fund and more to do with all the stuff needed for asset managers to repeatedly issue, distribute, maintain, and update financial products without reinventing the machinery every time.

Marketnode provides the access. BNY provides the products. Stellar wants to be the part the makes it all work. šŸ‘©ā€šŸ”¬

šŸ¤– Casper Wants AI Agents Past The Checkout Page

Credit cards, CAPTCHAs, and wallet popups work great until the customer is software making 1,000 purchases an hour. Casper’s stack combines x402 payment requests, dollar-denominated csprUSD, offchain CEP-3009 authorizations, fractional-cent fees, and a facilitator that handles settlement without manual clicks. Its WordPress plugin is still on testnet, but it could give publishers covering over 40% of the web a way to charge agents per article, API call, or document. Casper Network.

šŸŽ² Yoyo Market Adds A Fiat Door

One less crypto tab does not make the prediction right, but it does make losing an argument about regional soccer considerably more convenient. Users across 173 countries can now buy supported crypto directly inside yoyo market through Alchemy Pay. The embedded on-ramp supports Visa, Mastercard, mobile wallets, and local bank transfers, removing the separate exchange trip before someone can trade predictions on sports, culture, finance, technology, and regional events.  Alchemy Pay.

šŸ”’ Aerodrome Buys And Locks Another 343K AERO

Aerodrome’s Public Goods Fund acquired and max-locked another 343,000 AERO through its rules-based buyback program. More than 1.5 million AERO has now been purchased and locked over the past month, with deployment scaled according to market conditions. A permanent lock is cleaner than a temporary treasury hold, though the number only earns its supper when measured against emissions, float, and daily liquidity. Aerodrome.

Crypto Stuff That Happened Today, But A Long Time Ago šŸ“œ

Here’s what was happening in the newsletter a year ago today:

  • ETH looked strong but frothy - 30-day MVRV was above the caution line, 60-day and 90-day were hot, and the chart was above the cloud.

  • ADA looked like the cleaner continuation setup - 30-day MVRV had only recently flipped positive, 60-day and 90-day were not crowded, and Ichimoku structure stayed bullish while above the Kijun.

  • LINK had reversal risk - 60-day and 90-day MVRV were already warm, price was extended above the Tenkan, and the call was to avoid chasing highs like a raccoon chasing headlights.

Here’s what was happening in the newsletter two years ago today:

  • Bitcoin Runes cooled off - Runes still handled a lot of BTC activity, but its fee share dropped to 8.37%.

  • ETH got ETF relief - Ethereum touched a weekly high near $2,750 as Grayscale’s ETHE finally logged its first day without outflows.

  • Solana kept stacking stablecoin and memecoin wins - Pump.fun hit $28.7M in monthly income.
